Some insight into my previous work on optical Projection Tomography at Umeå University (Umeå Centre for Molecular Medicine).
Video 1: This video shows Optical Projection Tomography (OPT) based 3D rendering of the developing pancreatic epithelium in the mouse. The projections have been generated based on the signal from E-cadherin specific antibodies and shows a segment of the gut encompassing the stomach, duodenum and pancreas at embryonic day 13.5. The newly developed algorithms published in IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging allow imaging of biomedical samples with great detail. The findings have important implications in interpreting the model system for the people with diabetes disease.
Video 2: 3D volume rendering (from Optical Projection Tomography reconstructions) of a 8 weeks female C57BL/6 mouse left lateral liver lobe. The signal is based on an antibody indicating major blood vessels.
These organs' unprecedented visualization is achieved with a set of algorithms which are fully described in the following article.
